How to use the C-class IP checker

Paste one IPv4 address per line, press Check, and read the C-class groups from the most-shared subnet down. Labelled lines like “moneysite.com 1.2.3.4” work too — only the IP is parsed.

Read the C-class groups, not just the IP count

The tool splits every valid address at its third dot, so 198.51.100.7 and 198.51.100.201 both belong to the C-class 198.51.100. Each group is shown as a /24 block with its member IPs; groups holding more than one address are pulled to the top and flagged with an amber pill, because those are the addresses sharing a subnet. A clean result shows one IP per C-class. A result where five or six addresses collapse into a single block is the footprint pattern to investigate before it links anything together.

Treat shared C-classes as a footprint risk, not a guarantee

Two sites sharing a C-class often share a hosting provider, a reseller plan, or a single server, and that correlation is what makes a private blog network legible from the outside. The checker reports the overlap factually; it does not claim a penalty. Use the shared-subnet flag as a prompt to diversify hosting across genuinely different providers and IP ranges, or to confirm that addresses you expected to be separate really are. The diversity verdict summarises the ratio of unique IPs to unique C-classes in one sentence.

Clean duplicate IPs and invalid lines before you trust the count

Exact-duplicate addresses are counted separately and marked with a red pill and a multiplier badge, so a list that looks like ten hosts but resolves to six unique IPs is obvious at a glance. Lines that are not valid IPv4 — a hostname with no resolved address, an octet above 255, or a typo — are listed on their own and excluded from the maths rather than silently dropped. Fix or remove those lines and re-check so the unique-IP and C-class totals reflect the real footprint.
